Privacy policy

Information the app uses

• Precise location (GPS). Used only while you are tracking a trip, to work out where you are along the route, show the stops and minutes left, and trigger the wake-up alarm. Your location is processed on your device. It is not sent to our servers and not stored.
• Searches and trips. When you search for a stop, address or route, the text you type and the start and destination coordinates are sent to our server, which forwards them to the Digitransit service (Finnish public transport data) to get stops and timetables. We do not use these requests to identify you.
• Favorite trips and settings. Saved on your device only (names, stops, preferred line, language, alert mode). They are removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
• Technical data. Our server is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard connection data such as IP address and request time to deliver and protect the service. To confirm requests come from the genuine app, the app may use Google Play Integrity / Firebase App Check, which exchange device and app integrity signals with Google.

Permissions

• Location to track your trip.
• Notifications to show trip progress and the alarm.
• Foreground service (location) to keep tracking when the app is closed or the screen is off.
• Full-screen intent, vibration, wake lock to show and sound the wake-up alarm on the lock screen.

Sharing

We do not sell your data and do not share it for advertising. Route and stop queries are passed to Digitransit (digitransit.fi). Cloudflare and Google process technical data as described above.

Retention and your choices

We do not keep a user profile. Server request logs, if any, are short-lived and used only for security and reliability. You can stop all tracking at any time with the Stop button or the notification, revoke location permission in Android settings, or delete the app to remove all local data.

Children

BusAlarm is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from them.
